Cristiano Ronaldo is competing in the sixth European Championship of his career, a record praised by Stuart Pearce, former England international.
“He is what he is, he is an icon of world football and has been for a few decades,” he said on British radio talkSPORT. “What I probably admire most about him is his professionalism, I think he really cares about Portugal. I see the preparation for the game in the warm-up, how he behaves with all his teammates, all that kind of stuff, how he goes to the fans”, he mentioned.
“I Admire Ronaldo’s Professionalism. He Cares About Portugal”.
Ronaldo is 39 years old and Stuart Pearce spoke about the end of the National Team captain’s career. “He wants to play for as long as possible, and I admire that about him. Obviously, he doesn’t need the money, that’s for sure. So, I admire the fact that he continues to fight”, he stressed.
“I would tell him that as long as he is physically fit, keep going. For me, he is playing in a very different position. I finished my career at 40, but I was a defender. It’s much easier as a defender than as a forward. You need that explosion of speed and energy. My game was more about reading, and I could get away with it a little more. But when we look at Ronaldo, it’s simply incredible for me, at 35 years old, at a club. 12 years ago, it’s great”, concluded the former player from Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, West Ham and Manchester City, among other clubs.
