Barcelona set to receive a small financial boost thanks to an agreement in the Italian second division

Barcelona could soon enjoy a small financial boost as one of their former players, Estanis Pedrola, could move this January, according to a report from SPORT.

The 21-year-old striker, currently playing for Serie B side Sampdoria, has faced a poor run of form in Italy, with signs pointing to a possible exit during the winter transfer window.

Pedrola’s problems are due to a relapse of a hamstring injury he suffered in May. After undergoing surgery, he returned to action in late October but failed to make the impact he had hoped.

His playing time has been limited, starting only two of Sampdoria’s last 11 games, with two more as a substitute. In total, he has played eight league games this season without contributing any goals or assists.

Sampdoria prepares for a restructuring

Sampdoria management are said to look set to restructure their squad in January, with Pedrola among the players likely to leave, and this situation could work in Barcelona’s favour.

When Pedrola initially left for Sampdoria, the Catalan club made €3m from the deal and retained 50% of any future sale. If the Italian team sells him this winter, Barça will take a part of the transfer fee.

Pedrola joined Sampdoria in 2023, initially on loan before being signed permanently by the Italian team. Although Barcelona has a buyback clause of 7 million euros for the forward, this cannot be activated until 2025.

Barcelona still has control

For now, Barça We expect any deal involving Pedrola to generate some immediate financial benefit.

Currently valued at €1.8 million, Pedrola showed great promise during his time in Barcelona’s youth system.

However, injuries have hampered his progress, but with the right conditions and consistent playing time, he has the potential to reach the levels many once anticipated.

For Barcelona, his next move could bring much-needed financial relief while also providing hope for his career resurgence.
