PSG striker offered to Barcelona by super agent for January: report

FC Barcelona remains attentive to the transfer market in search of a forward who adapts to any attacking position.

Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford remains the top priority, and there is also an agreement with the player on personal terms.

However, in recent hours another significant name has emerged as a possible option for the blaugrana – Marco Asensio.

Asensio offered to Barcelona by Jorge Mendes

In fact, according to The Chiringuito (h/t SPORT), super agent Jorge Mendes has offered PSG striker Marco Asensio to Barcelona, as well as La Liga rival Atlético Madrid.

The former Real Madrid winger, 29, has had limited playing time this season under Luis Enrique and his chances have taken a further blow now that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has joined the club from the French capital.

As such, PSG are looking to offload Asensio, with his agent now offering him to clubs in Europe, hoping to secure a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

As a result, Barcelona have been offered the services of the former Real Madrid star, along with Atlético Madrid. However, so far no club has taken any steps in this direction.

In fact, Barcelona have put this proposal aside for the moment and are focusing all their efforts on securing Rashford.

The England striker is interested in joining the Catalans on loan for the next five months, but the club must first find a way to offload some of their own players. Ansu Fati and Eric García are the candidates most likely to move forward.

As for Asensio, the Spanish international was once on Barcelona’s radar during his time at Mallorca, to the point of traveling to the Catalan city to negotiate his transfer.

However, Real Madrid intervened to secure his signing. After enjoying a successful spell at the Bernabéu, the 29-year-old joined PSG in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer.

At that time there were also links with Barça but nothing came of it. And as things stand, they are unlikely to now accept Mendes’ offer to sign the versatile winger on loan.
