The town of Reportedlylocated in the central Sardinia, Italyoffers properties for only €1.06 in an attempt to attract Americans who are dissatisfied with the Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 presidential elections. According to the American newspaper New York PostThe town aims to attract part of the population that enjoys the expat lifestyleaccording to the statement from the Commune di Ollolai.
“Are you tired of global politics? Do you want to adopt a more balanced lifestyle and at the same time achieve new opportunities? It’s time to start build your European getaway in the stunning paradise of Sardinia” a city website wrote in a new announcement.
The town’s initiative also highlights the climatethe amazing food and the ancient traditions that offer a healthier and fuller life. The mayor of the city of Ollolai, according to the newspaper, claims that Americans are your target buyer.
“We truly want and will focus on Americans above all else. Of course, we cannot prohibit people from other countries from applying, but Americans will have a quick procedure. We bet on them to help us revive the town, they are our winning card,” Mayor Francesco Columbu told CNN.
Ollolai received more than 38,000 requests for information about housingmost of them coming from the US, CNN said. The mayor even formed a specialized team to guide international buyers through all stages of the process.
The area is known worldwide for being one of the five places in the world considered a “blue zone”which are places around the world where people have a noticeably longer life expectancy than the average.
The province of Nuoro, in Sardinia, has a average life expectancy of 79 years for men and 85 years for womenaccording to the National Institute of Health. The Mediterranean island also has almost 10 times more centenarians than the average.
Ollolai still describes herself as one of the first towns of Europe in offering €1 deals on villas and houses. These values are for properties that require a significant amount of renovation. The city too offers homes that are more expensive but what require less investment to reach a habitable level. The ready-to-move-in homes start at €105,000.
