With one day left before Barcelona faces Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final, a reception was held in Jeddah.
The big news of the event was that Joan Laporta would meet with the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, in a regular meeting. But that was canceled because Pérez arrived late.
Laporta, however, was in the center of attention after his celebration of the CSD decision that generated quite a stir in the Spanish Football Federation.
Indeed, reports earlier in the week suggested that the RFEF were considering disciplinary action against Laporta for the way he celebrated the CSD verdict.
No action against Laporta
However, a new update from journalist Alfredo Martínez suggests that there was a conciliatory tone in the Spanish Football Federation during the reception of the Super Cup final.
Martínez even claims that the RFEF has ruled out the option of taking any disciplinary sanctions against Laporta for his way of celebrating.
This would be a relief for the Barcelona president, who has already made several enemies after the CSD verdict.
Many Spanish clubs have already issued statements openly criticizing the CSD’s decision to grant precautionary measures to Barcelona, effectively allowing the club to register both Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor.
These clubs describe it as injustice, although Laporta himself has recently opened up about the saga. In particular, he criticized the regulatory bodies for having committed an injustice against Barça.
However, Laporta’s attention will now be firmly on the upcoming Super Cup final against Real Madrid, where Barcelona will seek their first title under new coach Hansi Flick.
