The Government asked Chile for explanations for a military helicopter that violated Argentine airspace

AND helicopter military from Chili violated Argentine airspace, in which Rodolfo Roballos border crossing from Santa Cruz, as LA NACION learned. The event occurred on Friday afternoon and although the Foreign Ministry, headed by Gerardo Werthein, asked the trans-Andean country for explanations, the Government lowered its tone on the matter by calling it an episode of “little gravity.”

According to sources close to the Ministry of Defense, the incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the Gendarmerie saw a military helicopter that crossed 20 meters from the border and then “returned to its place.” After that, the authorities notified the Aerospace Command, dependent on the portfolio led by Luis Petri.

“The Command did not see the helicopter on the radar, but it notified the Foreign Ministry that there was an aircraft. “He only went 20 meters and came back,” the same sources clarified. “Maybe he was wrong,” They slipped away, waiting for a response from the neighboring country, which promised to investigate what happened.

The episode, of which further details are still unknown, occurs in the midst of an escalation of tensions with the Chilean administration, which this week sent Ambassador Jorge Faurie a letter of protest following the statements of the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, who days ago stated that the trans-Andean president is “a communist who is about to sink” his country.

“A note of protest was formally delivered to the Argentine ambassador in Chile, Jorge Faurie, expressing the rejection of the government of Chile to the inappropriate and inaccurate statements by the Minister of Economy of Argentina, Luis Caputo,” the Foreign Ministry reported in a statement.
