Punjab’s campaign in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 has been spectacular. Prabhsimran Singh and Abhishek Sharma have been in excellent form for the team. Opening together, the duo has racked up runs for Punjab in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Prabhsimran’s scorching form is the talk of the town. The 24-year-old right-hander has scored three consecutive centuries, the last of which was a majestic 137 against Hyderabad. Meanwhile, fellow left-hander Abhishek has always had fiery starts, ensuring Punjab stays ahead in the competition.
Prabhsimran’s triple delight
Prabhsimran Singh bats like a man on a mission. Against Hyderabad, he scored 137 runs off 105 balls, crossed the boundary 20 times and cleared it three times. His innings were a perfect combination of controlled aggression and calculated risk.
This was not a one-time performance. Before Hyderabad, he dismantled Mumbai and Saurashtra with centuries that showed his versatility and hunger for runs. His current streak of three hundreds cements his status as one of India’s brightest batting prospects.
Associations that break records
Prabhsimran and Abhishek have been a nightmare for bowlers this season. The duo put up a 298-run stand against Saurashtra earlier and completely decimated their bowlers.
Even his “days off” have been exceptional. An opening partnership of 150 runs against Mumbai and a strong 196-run stand against Hyderabad highlight their synergy. Their ability to build great partnerships is driving Punjab’s march towards the knockout stages.
Eyes on India’s call
The duo’s performances are a strong argument for the national team. Since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are likely to be rested during the upcoming India vs. England, opportunities could arise for new faces.

Prabhsimran’s astonishing average of 118 and strike rate of 135 make him a standout candidate. Abhishek too, with an average of 66 and a strike rate of over 140, is attracting the attention of the selectors.
BCCI sources hint that the teams for both the England series and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be announced before January 12. While the Champions Trophy may be a stretch, the England series could see these two stars donning the Indian jersey.
