Palmeiras plans shocking move for Barcelona loan worth €30m

As we approach the end of 2024, it has been a whirlwind year for Vítor Roque. The striker took the big step towards Barcelona, hoping to make a breakthrough at the highest level of football.

But after a disappointing spell in Catalonia, Roque ultimately had to settle for a loan move to Real Betis.

Roque has had a relatively better time at Betis. After a slow start, the forward has become a key offensive piece under Manuel Pellegrini. He has scored six goals in all competitions this season, although Pellegrini and company expect more performance from the Brazilian.

However, in a significant development, Roque’s performances appear to have alerted one of the biggest clubs in his homeland, Brazil.

According to UOL (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Palmeiras is interested in Roque’s services. The club has already contacted the striker about a possible move in the upcoming January transfer market.

This comes despite Roque still being contracted to Real Betis via a loan deal. To solve this problem, Palmeiras is willing to spend 20 million euros.

That said, Real Betis does have a purchase option on the player. Without forgetting that the club also has an important weight regarding the player’s future, at least until the end of the season.

Therefore, in the event that Barcelona accepts the proposal of 20 million euros plus bonus from Palmeiras, they will have to reach an agreement with Real Betis on the termination of Roque’s loan contract.

This method could force Barcelona to pay a certain fee for terminating the loan. The whole operation, therefore, is quite complicated, as far as Barcelona is concerned.

The Catalans are therefore unlikely to consider any deal unless Palmeiras come up with a significantly better proposal.
