Lamine Yamal’s current contract with Barcelona ends in 2026, but both the club and his agent, Jorge Mendes, have been actively working to extend and secure his future at the club.
In a recent interview with CNN Sports Dubai, Yamal made it clear that his commitment to Barcelona is strong and that he is eager to renew his contract.
While he didn’t give an exact date, he assured fans that the renovation process would be completed soon.
“I don’t know when the contract will be signed, but it will be soon.” he said quoted by SPORT.
He expressed his desire to stay at the club as long as possible, highlighting that Barcelona is the club of his life. He also confirmed his intention to continue playing in La Liga, with Barcelona being his preferred option.
“Barça is the club of my life, I hope to renew and stay as long as possible. I want to play in La Liga and for Barça. Yes, I am going to renew my contract.”

Yamal also shared his opinion on Hansi Flick and his management style. According to the young star, Flick brings a different approach to training, with a unique style of play.
The team has been adapting to his methods and he believes they are progressing well under his direction.
“It is true that Flick is a different coach and has a different style of play. “We have tried to adapt to what he has told us and I think we are doing well.”

When talking about the team’s main objective, Yamal made it clear that winning the League is his top priority. He believes the league will be won with consistency, especially against teams they have had problems with in the past.
“In the end, we will win the league against the teams we have lost to before. I think it’s a matter of concentration.”
He noted that maintaining concentration is key, as they have shown in crucial moments that they are capable of being the best. He expressed confidence that the team will continue to perform at a high level and eventually win the La Liga title.
“We have shown in important moments that we are the best and we will continue to do so. “I have no doubt that we will win the league.”
About Messi and Neymar
In addition to his goals for the team, he also talked about his personal idol, Neymar. Despite Lionel Messi’s legendary status at Barcelona, Yamal has always admired Neymar.
He recalled how, at just five years old, he first saw Neymar play for Santos and then had the opportunity to see him in action at the Camp Nou when he was seven.
“I was five years old when I saw Neymar at Santos and when I was seven I saw him in person at the Camp Nou. “It was amazing to see.”
He described the experience as incredible and said the impact Neymar had on him was incomparable. While Messi was undoubtedly incredible, Yamal believes Neymar stood out as something truly special and remains a football legend in his eyes.
“Yes, it’s true, there was Messi, who was also incredible, but Neymar was something else. Neymar has always been my idol. “He is a star and a football legend.” he pointed out.
