Barcelona finds itself in a challenging position as it navigates a legal path to secure the registrations of players Olmo and Pau Víctor.
The latest events, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, reveal that Barcelona is willing to go to the ordinary courts to request a precautionary measure if the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) does not grant the necessary approvals.
The problem arises from the deregistration of both players on January 1, following a regulatory deadline linked to financial fair play rules.
Crucial steps will be taken
Barcelona now plans to submit all relevant documentation to La Liga, including information on funds received from a pending investor.
However, if La Liga fails to process the licenses, allowing the RFEF to approve them, the club intends to take the matter to the ordinary courts.
This legal avenue aims to secure temporary relief so the duo can rejoin the team while pushing for a permanent change to financial fair play regulations.
Barcelona has an argument prepared
Barcelona maintains that the current rules, which set a December 31 expiration date for player registrations, are unfair.
The club believes that the deadline should coincide with the end of the winter transfer market on February 2.
This adjustment would give clubs the entire month of January to manage player transfers and adjust their salary limits, which is not feasible during December.
According to the club, the current situation puts clubs and players at a disadvantage.
- It will take time for players to play.
If the precautionary measure is applied, it is unlikely that Olmo and Víctor will be able to play in Barcelona’s next matches.
He is expected to miss the Copa del Rey clash against Barbastro this Saturday and could also not be available for the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club on January 8.
While the resolution may take a few days, Barcelona remains optimistic that it could be finalized before the Super Cup final on January 12. If Barcelona progress, they will face Real Madrid or Mallorca.
