FC Barcelona has officially presented an appeal requesting a precautionary measure from the Higher Sports Council (CSD) to ensure that Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor can be registered by the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and La Liga, reports SPORT.
Both players are currently in Saudi Arabia, where Barcelona will face Athletic Club in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final on Wednesday, January 8.
Pending a resolution, the blaugrana have chosen to file an emergency appeal instead of an ordinary appeal seeking a precautionary measure, with the aim of increasing their chances of a favorable ruling.
The requirement allows the CSD to issue a ruling without hearing arguments from the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) or La Liga.
The decision would be based on the information already presented. This contrasts with Barça’s previous requests for standard injunctions in late December, where La Liga successfully defended its position before the judge.
Although this would serve to provide quick and potentially effective relief, it is usually temporary and not a permanent resolution.
Their goal is to prevent further damage to Barcelona by allowing Olmo and Pau Víctor to play over the next six months, with the intention of formally registering them in July.
Barcelona is optimistic about the success of this legal route, but recognizes that the CSD rarely rules against the rules established by the Federation.
The unusual nature of the Olmo and Pau Víctor case, along with significant media attention and pressure from other La Liga clubs constrained by salary caps, could influence the outcome.
The ruling on the case could come today, although it could take a few days. If the CSD denies the precautionary measure, the club may resort to ordinary justice.
