Yograj Singh praises MS Dhoni’s fearless leadership

Yograj Singh, former cricketer and father of Yuvraj Singh, recently praised MS Dhoni for his incredible knowledge of the game and his brave approach towards cricket. Speaking on the show ‘Unfiltered by Samdish’, Yograj highlighted Dhoni’s unique ability to read pitches and guide players on where to play.

“I find Dhoni to be a very motivated captain, who can tell people what to do. The best thing about Dhoni was that he could read the wicket and tell the players where to play,” Yograj said.

Dhoni’s bravery on the field

Yograj also recalled an iconic moment from Dhoni’s career in Australia. He shared how Dhoni remained unfazed after being hit on the helmet grill by speedster Mitchell Johnson.

“If you remember, in Australia, Mitchell Johnson hit him on the grid and he didn’t move one bit. He stayed there and on the next ball he pulled it out for a six. Aise log kaafi kam hote hai (There are very few people like him),” Yograj said.

The former captain’s bravery and composure in high-pressure situations have earned him the respect of generations. Dhoni is often credited with changing the face of Indian cricket with his calm demeanor and sharp cricketing mind.

A controversial relationship with Dhoni

Interestingly, Yograj Singh’s relationship with Dhoni has been a topic of controversy in the past. In an earlier interview, Yograj had accused Dhoni of prematurely ending his son Yuvraj Singh’s career.

“That man (MS Dhoni) destroyed the life of my son, who could have played four or five more years,” Yograj said during an interaction with Zee Switch’s YouTube channel.

Despite the controversial comments, Yograj’s recent praise for Dhoni highlights his admiration for the former Indian captain’s cricketing acumen.

Dhoni’s return to IPL 2025

While Dhoni has retired from international cricket, fans will see him back in action during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain will once again lead his team, with the tournament starting on 14 March.

Dhoni resigned from the CSK captaincy ahead of the last IPL season but is expected to play a crucial role in their campaign this year. The veteran batsman remains a fan favorite and is known for his ability to change games with his tactical brilliance.
