Vinod Kambli leaves hospital and advises against alcohol and drugs

Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli was discharged from Akruti hospital in Thane district on January 1, 2025. After battling a urinary tract infection and severe cramps for almost two weeks, doctors discovered clots in his brain, leading to which made his recovery even more remarkable.

Leaving the hospital, Kambli sported the iconic Indian jersey, a nod to his cricket roots. Addressing the waiting media, he shared a heartfelt message, urging people to avoid alcohol and narcotics.

“Enjoy life, don’t drink alcohol,” Kambli said, with renewed energy in his voice.

A lively press conference at the exit

Before leaving, Kambli held a brief press conference in which his humor and resilience shined.

“This doctor (Thakur) made me fit. I said I would leave only when I was ready,” Kambli joked. Reflecting on his recovery process, he added: “Here in the hospital I only ‘hit’ fours and sixes!”

He also expressed his determination to return to cricket and promised, “I will show the people at Shivaji Park that I, Vinod Kambli, will not leave cricket.”
