Barcelona vice president Elena Fort has expressed frustration at what she considers an unfairly lenient sanction imposed on Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr. following his red card incident at Mestalla.
In an interview with RAC1 (MARCA), Fort expressed his disappointment and stated that the decision was much more lenient than it should have been.
According to the Barcelona board, this deal highlights a persistent trend in which Real Madrid receives more favorable decisions, while Barcelona is penalized more harshly.
Fort noted that such leniency is not consistent with the way similar situations have been treated, referring to the example of the Hansi Flick case and suggesting that the disparity in sanctions is clear.
“This shows what Barça faces every day, it is not proportional when compared to what Hansi Flick received” she noted.
About Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor
In addition to addressing Vinicius’ punishment, Fort also commented on the current situation of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor.
There have been reports that the Spanish Sports Council (CSD) could issue an injunction in favor of Barcelona players, although the club has yet to receive any official notification.
He confirmed that the club is still waiting for a formal resolution.
“We have not received any official notification from the CSD about the precautionary measure.”
Despite this, she was confident in Barcelona’s position and hopes that the situation will be resolved quickly, even hoping that Olmo and Víctor can play again immediately.
However, he also made it clear that the club is frustrated by what they perceive as inconsistent treatment by LaLiga, and is patiently awaiting a court decision on the matter.
“News travels very fast, the truth is that we believe we are right and we hope that this news comes true.
“What we would like is for them to play today. “We do not understand the deal on the part of La Liga, but we will wait for the judicial resolution.”
How is Barcelona handling the process?
When asked about Barcelona’s handling of the registration process for both players, Fort denied any claims that the club had delayed registration and now faced consequences as a result.
“It is not true that we have reached the limit. “They have given us a summary trial without having any information about what happened.”
Fort stressed that the club had strictly followed the instructions of the economic regulator and had worked closely with them to ensure compliance.
“We have strictly complied with the instructions of the economic regulator and have worked hand in hand with him.”
He also recalled that the sale of VIP seats, a key piece of the process, was presented to the delegate commission in mid-November, ensuring that Barcelona had not rushed to make a decision.
“If I remember correctly, the sale of VIP seats reached the delegate committee in mid-November. “We don’t improvise.” she noted.
