The teenage duo from La Masia are likely to be in Barcelona’s squad for the match with Barbastro

Barcelona will play their first match of 2025 later this weekend when they face UD Barbastro in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey.

Looking ahead to the match, the Catalans continued today with their preparations in Sports City among all the noise surrounding the issue of the re-registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor.

It is likely that two young people will be summoned

Sports World Now reports that Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has called up two young talents from the The Masia – Dani Rodríguez and Toni Fernández – will train today with the first team configuration.

As things stand, the teenage attackers have a good chance of being on the squad for the weekend trip to face Barbastro.

Barça could do with additional options in attack considering that Lamine Yamal returned to full training today after a period out due to injury.

For his part, Ferran Torres is also out due to a problem in his soleus and will miss the cup tie. In addition, doubts persist about the availability of Olmo and Víctor due to their registration saga.

And since there is a strong chance that Raphinha will be rested, Flick needs more options in attack, which is where Dani and Toni come into the picture.

Rodríguez began the season recovering from a hamstring injury. Since his return, the 19-year-old winger has put in outstanding performances for Barça Atletic, racking up three goals and two assists in just four games.

For his part, Toni, who participated in the preseason with the first team, was sidelined in mid-October due to an ankle problem, from which he returned at the end of the year.

Before his injury, the 16-year-old prodigy had managed two goals and an assist in four games for Barça Atletic this season.

Flick has not hesitated to offer opportunities to young talents from The Masia and Rodríguez and Toni could benefit this weekend.
