Pablo Torre’s talent is undeniable, but his future in Barcelona remains uncertain as the young attacking midfielder finds himself sidelined more often than not.
Despite his promise, Torre has struggled to secure a regular place in the team under manager Hansi Flick, raising doubts over whether he will continue at the club beyond this season.
This season marks Torre’s third year in Barçabut it has been a turbulent journey. Initially, it seemed that his technical skills would make him a valuable asset in midfield, a position that, while competitive, seemed to suit his style of play.
However, as the season has progressed and with the return of key players such as Dani Olmo and Gavi, Torre has faced increasing abandonment.
His lack of involvement has been particularly noticeable in recent weeks, with no playing time in the last five games, including four in La Liga (against Mallorca, Betis, Leganés and Atlético de Madrid) and one in the Champions League against Dortmund .
Even in games where Barcelona needed a spark, such as the match against Real Betis or the home clash against Leganés, Torre was not considered as a possible substitute.
Nobody knows what is happening
It’s hard to understand why, especially considering Torre has the ability to make an impact in such situations.
His last appearance was in the defeat against Las Palmas in Montjuic, where he was not at his best level, but he was not the worst player on the pitch either.
With only 267 minutes of play this season, Torre occupies 20th place in the Barcelona squadahead of only a few players, including those absent due to long-term injuries like Marc Bernal.
This limited involvement is in stark contrast to his potential, especially considering his solid performances with the Spanish under-21 team.
Looking ahead, the Copa del Rey match against Barbastro on January 4 offers Torre the opportunity to regain some playing time. If he does not appear in that match, it will raise serious concerns about his future at the club.
What is clear is that his prominence at Barça has decreased significantly and many clubs are already showing interest in loaning him out.
