The president of Barcelona speaks about the future of Ronald Araujo in the midst of exit negotiations: “We appreciate him very much”

The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, appeared before the media today for the first time since the registration saga between Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor began.

After successfully re-registering the duo through a precautionary measure issued by the Higher Sports Council (CSD), the Barça leader told in detail everything that happened behind the scenes.

While Olmo and Victor’s cases may be resolved, Barcelona are now sweating over the future of key defender Ronald Araujo, who is said to be seeking an exit from the club in the current window.

Laporta addresses Araujo’s situation

During his press conference, Laporta also referred to the situation of Araujo, who is in the crosshairs of Serie A giant Juventus.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has already made it clear that he wants to keep the Uruguayan international, whom he considers one of the best defenders in football.

Now, Laporta echoed those feelings, stating that Barça greatly appreciates Araujo as a player and as a person and has the intention of retaining him.

“We want the players we have on the squad to continue. He has a current contract, but he is speaking with the sports management. We will find a solution. We greatly appreciate it on a professional level, but above all on a personal level.” said.

Therefore, the club president expressed his hope that some positive solution can be reached regarding Araujo’s future.

“There are some circumstances that I do not want to detail, but there is room to find a solution that is to everyone’s satisfaction.” he added.

Araujo’s contract with Barcelona expires in the summer of 2026. As mentioned above, Juventus are interested in his services. It remains to be seen if the Catalans will manage to retain him.
