Explosive reports from Brazil recently claim that Palmeiras are interested in the services of Vitor Roque.
The Brazilian giants are willing to shell out €20 million for the striker, who is currently on loan at Real Betis until 2026.
Despite being signed to Real Betis via a loan deal, there is a strong possibility that Palmeiras will try to sign the Brazilian in the near future.
Pellegrini praises Roque
While the recent links with Palmeiras have certainly raised eyebrows, Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini has come out in full defense of the player.
Speaking after the 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano, Pellegrini praised Roque’s work ethic and how he has shown immense commitment at Betis so far.
“He is a young player who is starting his career. He is 19 years old, so we cannot demand from him the experience that a footballer with more games under his belt has.” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
Regarding Roque’s performance against Rayo, Pellegrini stated: “He spent the 90 minutes running, trying to create opportunities. “He caused the penalty, he had a cross play that he couldn’t convert and a one-on-one with the goalkeeper.”
“As he gains confidence, his accuracy when shooting inside the box will also improve. He is a player in full growth who contributes a lot to us.” he added.
The Chilean’s statements can be considered an indication of Real Betis’ desire to retain Roque’s services permanently.
The Beticos They have a purchase option included in Roque’s deal, but it can only be activated after the end of the second season. The club would then have to pay 25 million euros to acquire 80% of the player’s rights.
Even then, Barcelona would retain a buy-back clause worth €27.5 million. With this in mind, it will be interesting to see if Real Betis actually make any effort to sign Roque permanently in the future.
