Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal is recovering positively from his recent ankle injury and could start for the team in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club.
Information from Javier Miguel in AS suggests that Yamal’s ankle has shown significant improvement, and he has been training with the group throughout the week.
In fact, his progress has been so promising that, barring any setbacks, there is a real chance he could play 70 to 75 minutes at full intensity in the next game.
Flick will make the decision
The decision on Yamal’s inclusion in the starting eleven will be made by coach Hansi Flick, in collaboration with the Club’s medical staff and, of course, the player himself.
All signs reportedly point to Yamal’s return to action on Wednesday, which lines up with the club’s initial recovery estimate.
The club originally expected him to be out for around three or four weeks after suffering a grade one ankle injury during a match against Leganés on December 15.
yamal is ready
Contrary to some specialists who suggested a much longer absence, even some who predicted up to two months, it appears that Yamal’s recovery has been much quicker.
In addition to Yamal, several other players have been authorized to play in the Super Cup. Ferran Torres, Héctor Fort and Andreas Christensen have been given the medical green light, although they are unlikely to start the game.
Despite not being a starter, his availability provides depth to the squad ahead of the Super Cup.
With the possible return of Yamal, Flick will have a nearly complete squad at his disposal, allowing him to form a star-studded starting lineup. This is a big boost for Barcelona, who will be eager to give their best in the competition.
