Following a long-term knee injury to captain and first-choice goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen in September, Barcelona acted quickly to bring in Wojciech Szczesny as an emergency signing.

Szczesny totally agrees with Hansi Flick
Speaking about his situation and when fans will be able to see him make his debut for Barcelona, Szczesny admitted that he was not 100% when signing for the club and is more than okay with Flick’s decision not to play for him yet.
“You know, I don’t know [when my debut will happen]. I told them from the beginning that I needed to get back to full fitness first and that was the most important thing. Now I feel, I would say, mentally and physically prepared to play.” Szczesny said.
“But I have no secret that if I were the coach of this club, I would play the same number of games that I have played so far. So it’s hard to be disappointed in this situation because I agree with it 100%.”
Dismissing speculation that he and his family were unhappy with his situation at Barcelona, the veteran goalkeeper added:
“You know, I don’t think there’s any point in answering that. My family is very happy and my family is the main reason why we decided to move to Barcelona.
“Both my wife and son were very excited to move here. All of us, as a family, feel very comfortable here. My son is very happy with his school, he has many friends here and so do we. In general we are very happy.”
Szczesny offers support to Peña
The former Arsenal and Juventus star further admitted that he was the first to support Iñaki Peña and insist that Flick stay with him when there were some murmurs about the The Masia star performance.
“What does Hansi Flick say to me? It doesn’t tell me anything. We talk a lot. When the team was in a bad moment and the media tried to pressure it, I was the first to say that Iñaki Peña deserved full trust.” Szczesny said.
He then added: “I also have a slightly different perspective. As someone who has already been on the other side of their career, I think I can evaluate things more objectively.
“Will I play a game until the end of the season? I will play calmly. […]”
The goalkeeper also spoke about his first experience with the Classicthat Barcelona won comfortably at the Santiago Bernabéu, saying:
“Excellent. It was a beautiful experience. I lived it as part of Barcelona. It was an exceptional experience and it made me smile a lot. Maybe I even exaggerated my happiness a little after the game.”
