The Barcelona captain is “more out than in” given January’s interest; The club wants at least 50 million euros.

The future of Barcelona defender and vice-captain Ronald Araujo has been a big topic of discussion in recent days in Catalonia.

After recently recovering from an injury and having returned, the Uruguayan international is attracting great interest from Italian side Juventus.

He bianconeros They are considering signing Araujo on loan until the end of the season with a purchase clause.

Although Araujo has been seen as a pillar of Barça’s present and future, the fact that his contract expires in 2026 and he has not yet agreed to renew is forcing the club to consider the possibility of an exit.

Araujo probably about to leave

In fact, according to journalist Helena Condis, as things stand, sources close to Araujo suggest that he is ‘more outside than inside’ at Barcelona.

He blaugrana They have already sparked great interest from Juventus and are open to offers from other clubs.

However, the Catalan team has made it clear that it will not accept loan deals, only permanent transfers, with a minimum price of €50 million for its star defender.

After missing the first part of the season due to injury, Araujo, Barcelona’s key player in recent seasons, finds himself behind Pau Cubarsi and Íñigo Martínez in Hansi Flick’s pecking order.

This change in status has left him frustrated, especially as Barça are also pursuing Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer in the summer.

This weekend’s Spanish Super Cup clash against Real Madrid could further define how things are going for Araujo: if he doesn’t play or start, he could get closer to the exit doors.

As such, the likelihood of the Uruguayan international leaving the Catalans appears high, although it remains to be seen whether Juventus or any other club is willing to come up with the €50m transfer fee that Barcelona want for him.
