Spanish Super Cup final may accelerate sale of Barcelona star defender: report

Ronald Araujo’s future has been a real topic of conversation at Barcelona in recent weeks, with the likes of Juventus and Arsenal interested in his services.

For a long time, Barça have been worried about selling the star defender. But their stance has been slowly changing over time, and it won’t be surprising to see them consider an exit if the player doesn’t renew his contract.

On top of that, the likes of Juventus have shown concrete interest in the player and are ready to snap him up in the current January transfer window.

The Spanish Super Cup can accelerate the sale of Araujo

It’s no secret that Araujo’s snub in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Athletic Club played a key role in fueling speculation over the defender’s future.

With this in mind, a recent report from SPORT has added more perspective on the matter.

The report suggests that the upcoming Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid could go a long way to speeding up Araujo’s exit process.

As we have already mentioned, Araujo’s snub against Athletic Club was an important factor. And now, if Hansi Flick again drops the Uruguayan international from the team against Real Madrid in the final, things could get even worse.

That said, Barcelona are very clear that they will not allow the defender to be sold at a reduced price.

The Catalans value the star defender at around 55-60 million euros and will not settle for less.

The club are also reportedly not very keen on loaning the player in January and may only consider permanent deals.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see how things happen in the coming days, especially as Barcelona prepare for the Spanish Super Cup final this weekend.
