Sources: Barcelona identify three future free agents as key signings for the summer

Barcelona are making plans for the summer of 2025 with a clear strategy to strengthen their squad by targeting three top players whose contracts will expire, reports Fichajes.

The club aims to get these players without having to pay any transfer fees, a smart move that could help them build a stronger squad for future competitions.

This approach comes after Hansi Flick, the team’s coach, communicated to president Joan Laporta the urgent need to strengthen key positions to ensure that Barcelona remains competitive at the highest level.

Who are the players?

The first player on Barcelona’s radar is jonathan tahthe German center back of Bayer Leverkusen. At 28, Tah’s contract will expire in the summer and Flick has identified him as a vital reinforcement for the defence.

His arrival could add much-needed depth to Barcelona’s backline, which already includes solid defenders such as Pau Cubarsi, Íñigo Martínez and Ronald Araujo.

Tah’s presence could also make room for the possible departure of Andreas Christensen, further strengthening Barcelona’s defensive options.

Another player that Barcelona likes is jonathan davidthe 24-year-old Canadian forward from Lille.

As his contract also nears the end, David has become a key target for the Catalan club. Barcelona reportedly view him as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski as a centre-forward.

Finally, Barcelona has also set its eyes on Bayern Munich Joshua Kimmich. The 29-year-old midfielder is considered one of the most complete players in his position.

Kimmich’s versatility and experience would be invaluable to Barcelona’s midfield, particularly following the departure of Sergio Busquets.

With Marc Casado being heavily relied upon, the signing of Kimmich would provide much-needed stability and depth, making Barcelona’s midfield even more formidable.

Barcelona’s transfer strategy for the summer of 2025 shows that they are determined to improve their squad by signing experienced players without incurring significant transfer costs.
