Six free agents that Barcelona is considering to reinforce the 2025 squad

It’s no secret that Barcelona is closely monitoring the free agent market, knowing that some high-quality players will be available for nothing once their contracts expire at the end of this season.

From January 1, players will be able to negotiate freely with other clubs and Barcelona are looking to take advantage of this opportunity.

However, the competition is fierce and many other clubs are also targeting these free agents. In this article, we will focus on six players that Barcelona are closely monitoring and who could have a big impact on the club.

Jonathan Tah has confirmed that he will not renew his contract with Bayer Leverkusen. This situation has put Barcelona in a strong position to sign him for free in the summer.

The club’s sporting director, Deco, visited Germany in early December to meet with Tah and his agent, Pini Zahavi, and the meeting reportedly went well.

Barcelona appear to be leading the race for his signature, as he would offer valuable experience and defensive stability to the team.

Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich has long been a target for Barcelona. His current contract with Bayern Munich has not yet been renewed and Bayern have given him an ultimatum to decide his future soon.

While Barcelona’s interest in Kimmich has cooled slightly due to the emergence of talented players such as Marc Casado, there is still a strong possibility of him joining the Catalan club.

Kimmich would provide tactical versatility, being able to play as both a central midfielder and a defensive midfielder.

However, Barcelona would need to find a way to accommodate his salary within the club’s salary structure.

Alfonso Davies

Alphonso Davies is one of the most sought-after players who could potentially become a free agent in the summer.

Bayern Munich are still in talks with him to extend his contract, but the Canadian star has received interesting offers from other clubs, including Real Madrid.

If Bayern fail to reach an agreement with Davies, he could leave for free. Flick knows Davies well from their time together at Bayern, and Barcelona are certainly aware of the potential impact the young left-back could have on their team.

Mohamed Salah

Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah has been one of the best players in the world for several seasons. However, at the end of November, Salah revealed that he felt “more out than in” at Liverpool due to the lack of a contract renewal offer.

This has led to widespread speculation over his future, with several major European clubs monitoring the situation closely.

While Barcelona are yet to make a move, the club could be interested, especially considering Lamine Yamal’s good performances on the right wing.

Thomas Partey

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been in good form this season and is becoming a key player for Arsenal.

The situation of his contract at the London club is unclear and there has been no progress in its renewal. Barcelona had shown interest in Partey in the past and the midfielder could fit perfectly into the club’s midfield.

His physicality and defensive ability would provide an important balance to Barcelona’s midfield, offering a different dynamic to the team.

jonathan david

Lille striker Jonathan David is currently one of the most prolific scorers in Europe. With 17 goals in 26 appearances for Lille this season, he is attracting the attention of many top clubs.

There are strong rumors that David could leave Lille for free in the summer, and Barcelona have him on their radar. However, there is no clear consensus within the club about his potential signing.

David’s goalscoring record could make him a suitable long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, but Barcelona need to assess whether he is the right candidate for their attacking setup going forward.
