Premier League giants join Juventus in race to sign Barcelona defender: report

Ronald Araujo’s future has been a major topic of conversation lately, with Serie A giants Juventus pushing to sign the Barcelona defender.

Juventus want to sign Araujo on loan with the mandatory option of buying the player on a permanent contract in the summer.

Barcelona has not yet responded to Juventus’ offer. But it appears the Catalans are already facing increased competition in their bid to retain the star defender.

Arsenal joins the race for Araujo

This is because Arsenal have also entered the race to sign Araujo as the Premier League giants desperately look to shore up their ranks in the defensive unit.

This has been revealed by Mundo Deportivo, suggesting that Arsenal want to sign Araujo in the current January transfer window.

Mikel Arteta’s men have one of the best defenses in the Premier League. But the Gunners need more depth at the back, and Araujo emerges as the ideal solution.

Araujo’s renewal saga at Barça

It seems that Arsenal are aware of Araujo’s current situation at Barça.

After months out, the Uruguayan international may have realized that he might have difficulty breaking into the starting eleven.

This is because Íñigo Martínez and Pau Cubarsi have established themselves as key pieces in Hansi Flick’s defensive scheme.

With this in mind, Araujo has been reluctant to move forward with renewal talks at Barcelona. Arsenal, therefore, is more than prepared to take advantage of the market opportunity.

However, the Gunners will face immense competition from Juventus in the race to sign the defensive enforcer.

Barcelona, for its part, is willing to listen to offers for the Uruguayan if it fails to reach an agreement with the club on a contract extension.
