Pablo Torre 9.5, Lewandowski 9 | UD Barbastro 0-4 Barcelona: Player ratings

Barcelona started the new year in style with a dominant 4-0 win over UD Barbastro tonight to advance to the last 16 of the Copa del Rey, registering their first win in three matches.

Knowing well the history of the Copa del Rey and the frequency of surprises in the early stages, the importance of victory and dominance of the margin cannot be underestimated. After all, Barcelona had relatively problems against the same opponent last season.

Eric Garcia opened the scoring early in the evening before Robert Lewandowski doubled the lead against the fourth division side.

After the restart, the Polish striker made it 3-0 and Pablo Torre scored the fourth, putting the result beyond any doubt.

Barça Universal brings you the evaluations of the UD Barbastro 0-4 Barcelona players.

Wojciech Szczesny: 7

The Polish goalkeeper made his debut for Barcelona that night and barely had any role to play as Barbastro simply created no opportunities. He seemed calm with his distribution and composed every time he was asked for the ball.

Gerard Martin: 7

Good performance by the Spaniard who replaced Alejandro Balde in the lineup for the cup clash. He looked positive going forward and connected well with Fermín López to create space in the Barbastro defense.

Inigo Martinez: 7.5

The veteran defender continued his dominance on defense, calm with his distribution and always reliable in his defensive presence. He didn’t have much to do in terms of central defense, but he was heavily involved in the build-up.

Ronald Araujo: 7.5

In his season debut, Barcelona captain Ronald Araujo did not look like a player who had been out for more than six months. While you can’t read much into a game against Barbastro, Araujo was impressive with his movement and distribution and even attacked the area on set pieces.

He got the assist for Eric Garcia’s first goal with a beautiful header and could have even scored his own goal.

Jules Koundé: 7.5

A solid performance from the French defender who was a constant presence in attack. He linked up well with Pablo Torre and Pedri and repeatedly created threats from the flank.

Eric Garcia: 7

Garcia, who acted as a pivot against Barbastro, did well to take Marc Casado’s place and ensured the hosts had no momentum in the build-up. He scored the team’s first goal with a well-timed header.

Frenkie de Jong: 7.5

The Dutch midfielder put on a good show, strong in possession and positive in his distribution. He created the team’s first goal with a beautiful long ball as a pre-assist to Ronald Araujo.

Peter: 7

The Canarian was only part of the first half against Barbastro and performed well as a deep midfielder. He controlled the pace, but the coach did well to take him off the field and prioritize his physical fitness against a difficult opponent.

Pablo Torre: 9.5

The young phenom took a step forward on the night and was one of the best players on the team, pulling the strings in attack.

He assisted Robert Lewandowski twice against Barbastro and finished off himself into an open goal to put the icing on the cake.

Fermin Lopez: 6

López was far from his best level and did not influence the game as he would have liked. However, he played most of the game out of position and should not be given too much importance.

Robert Lewandowski: 9

The Pole was not at his best, but managed to score two goals against the lower-ranked rival. He first scored from a set piece in the first half and then completed his double with a goal that bordered on offside. He was brought down in the 60th minute.

Gavi: 7.5

He The Masia The graduate replaced Pedri at halftime and provided the physicality and dynamism that Barcelona so needed. He didn’t shy away from challenges, anchoring the game and also getting further and further forward as the half progressed.

Pau Cubarsi: 7

He came on as part of a late double substation when Hansi Flick replaced Íñigo Martínez to rest him. Cubarsi assumed leadership in defense and fought well against the late resurgence of Barbastro alongside Araujo.

Sergi Dominguez: 6.5

A solid cameo from the young academy defender who did well to replace Jules Kounde at right back. He didn’t offer much on offense but was solid on defense.

Ansu Fati: 6.5

A positive cameo from Fati in terms of preparation and movement, but he simply lacked precision in the final third to convert any of his chances.

Tony Fernandez: NA

He came on as a late substitute, making his first team debut at just 16 years old.
