Opposition groups continue to pressure Barcelona president Laporta to submit to a vote of confidence

Earlier this month, Joan Laporta faced immense pressure from Barcelona fan groups and their opposition for mishandling the Dani Olmo and Pau Victor saga.

These groups even issued a statement demanding Laporta resign, although sentiment has improved somewhat since the CSD issued a precautionary measure for the discharge of Olmo and Víctor.

However, Laporta has also found himself in the line of fire again.

Barça groups and the opposition demand a vote of confidence

According to AS, several fan groups and pre-election platforms have intensified their call for Joan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona, to submit to a vote of confidence.

This demand comes after Laporta’s recent press conference, in which he accused his critics of lacking love for the club and pursuing personal interests.

A coalition of nine groups, including Compromíssaris FCB, Dignitat Blaugrana and pre-election platforms such as Som un Clam and Si al Futur, issued a joint statement.

They criticized Laporta’s recent comments and urged him to embrace pluralism and dialogue within the club.

“We are members who live the Club with intensity, passion, critical spirit and we seek excellence” the statement said.

They reminded Laporta of his own past as an opponent when he led the Elefant Blau platform, pointing out the irony of his current stance in the face of criticism.

Opposition groups are not backing down; They demand that Laporta and his board face a vote of confidence at the end of the current season.

“We request that the president and the board of directors submit to a vote of confidence when the competitions end,” concluded the statement, referencing their previous statement on January 5 where they reserved the right to present a motion of no confidence if necessary.
