Following a 5-2 victory over Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup, FC Barcelona will look to focus their attention on the Copa del Rey.
After achieving a victory over Barbastro in the round of 32, the Catalans will face Real Betis in the round of 16 on Wednesday.
Betis promises to be a much more challenging option for the blaugranawho simply cannot afford an early exit from the Copa del Rey despite their recent triumph.
Great boost for Barcelona
Just a couple of days before this important clash, Barcelona have received a big boost with the injury of a key Real Betis player.
According to AS, Betis playmaker Giovani Lo Celso will be out of Barça this Wednesday due to injury.
The Argentine, who was once a target for Barcelona, suffers an adductor injury that will prevent him from traveling to Catalonia with the rest of his teammates.
Lo Celso notably missed Real Betis training this Monday and everything suggests that he will not be available against Barcelona.
In fact, the former Tottenham star could also be ruled out for Betis’ next league match against Deportivo Alavés.
The possible absence of Lo Celso could be a hard blow for Betis, especially in a game in which the team will exhaust its maximum creative production.
Lo Celso’s ability to provide creative substance in the final third, along with his partnership with Isco in the final third, is something that Betis will surely miss. Without forgetting that the Argentine international is the team’s top scorer this season with seven goals.
But that doesn’t mean that Barça doesn’t have to worry about anything else. Betis, in fact, already has a solid attack. Vitor Roque, in particular, will be one to watch as the Brazilian looks to make a good impression against his parent club.
