Official: La Liga rejects Barcelona’s attempt to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor

In a major development, La Liga has issued an official statement rejecting Barcelona’s appeal to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the second half of the season.

“La Liga informs that, as of today, December 31, FC Barcelona has not presented any alternative that, in compliance with La Liga’s economic control regulations, would allow it to register any player starting next January 2. ” the statement says.

Although the statement does not clearly specify the names of the two players, it makes clear reference to Barcelona’s efforts to register Olmo and Víctor.

Barça had signed Olmo and Víctor in the summer taking advantage of the salary space created by Andreas Christensen’s long-term injury, but it was only valid until midnight tonight.

The Catalans have made efforts to secure the duo’s registrations, but have encountered setbacks in their attempts, with two courts denying injunctions, forcing them to proceed with the sale of future Spotify VIP seat packages at the Camp Nou.

For this reason, an agreement of 100 million euros has been agreed with a Middle Eastern company but La Liga has not validated the operation despite having sent all the relevant documentation.

As Barcelona confirmed in a previous statement, they have tried to solve this problem by requesting a new registration of the players in the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF).

It remains to be seen how the situation develops, considering that the real deadline for the Catalans is this midnight.

If unregistered, Olmo will become a free agent and will be able to leave Barcelona for any club of his choice due to a special clause in his contract, while also being eligible to claim his full salary with the Catalans for the remainder of his contract. until 2030.

As for Víctor, there is no such clause in his contract and he would continue to be a Barça player, but he will have to leave the club on loan.
