More confirmation: Barcelona will sign the Bundesliga champion on a five-year contract until 2030

As reported today, Jonathan Tah is ready to be FC Barcelona’s first signing of the 2025-26 season.

Although the contract has not yet been signed and the player will only be able to do so from January 1, the Bayer Leverkusen centre-back has decided to sign for Barcelona.

The official arrival of the 28-year-old defender to the Catalan club will take place on July 1, once his contract with the German club ends.

The news, initially reported by SPORT, has now been corroborated by Sports Worldand the two outlets reported different lengths of Tah’s contract with the Blaugrana.

Tah will sign a five-year contract

Indeed, SPORT’s previous report suggested Tah would sign a three-year deal with an additional option for a fourth.

However, MD’s update suggests that the German international has agreed a five-year contract that will run until the summer of 2030.

Regardless of this, MD adds that the player’s entourage no longer hides the fact that Barcelona is in pole position to sign Tah next summer.

“Barcelona is in a great position” They admit, although they emphasize that the player will not make his final decision for a few weeks.

It should be remembered that Deco traveled to Leverkusen to meet with Tah and his agent earlier this month.

During this meeting, the foundations of the contract were laid that will allow the German international to sign for Barcelona for five years, until June 2030.

With the arrival of Tah, Barcelona will secure another top-level centre-back on a free transfer. After his signing, the first team squad will have six centre-backs.

As a result, both Andreas Christensen and Eric García are likely to leave the club in the summer.
