Therefore, sources within the club say there is hope that Manchester United can fend off other suitors and lure Gyokeres to Old Trafford in the summer.
Barcelona, for their part, see the 26-year-old, who has already scored 32 goals this season, as an important target.
But given the financial problems, they would probably have to make a major sale or even part ways with Lewandowski himself to make room for the striker.
