As we enter the new year, La Liga has taken a firm stance. The profiles of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, along with their respective numbers (20 and 17), have disappeared from the official LaLiga website.
On the other hand, Andreas Christensen continues to appear on the site, even though his registration was canceled in early August due to a long-term injury. This play paved the way for Olmo’s registration starting on the third day.
The situation with Olmo and Víctor is due to Barcelona’s current salary limitations, which have hindered their ability to register both players for the entire season.
Their contracts were only valid until December 31, 2024. After that date, La Liga has acted in accordance with its regulations, as stated in the statement issued on December 31.
According to La Liga, FC Barcelona has not provided an alternative solution that meets the financial control criteria necessary for player registration after January 2.
Barcelona is working
Yesterday, Barcelona officials were busy gathering additional information about the contracts and payment guarantees linked to the sale of VIP seats at Spotify Camp Nou, at the request of La Liga.
However, sources close to the situation have revealed that the employer’s association could not confirm that all the expected income had been received.
Following this, FC Barcelona made an official statement on December 31, revealing that it had submitted a request to the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation) for a new license for both Olmo and Víctor.
Despite this, sources from the Federation have clarified that no player can be granted a federative license without the approval of LaLiga, which has not yet been obtained.
However, FC Barcelona maintains hope and club sources suggest that a full explanation of the situation will be given on January 3.
This could open the possibility of both players continuing to play for Barcelona this season. For now, however, it is clear that neither Olmo nor Víctor are included in the official squad on the La Liga website.
