Following confirmation by LaLiga and the RFEF that Barcelona cannot register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, the club is once again facing a judicial appeal.
Barça is expected to approach the Higher Sports Council (CSD), the highest sports body appointed by the Spanish government.
However, before Barcelona adopts this option, Barcelona may have to wait a bit.
Key dates of Barcelona’s judicial appeal
As reported by Sports WorldBarcelona cannot officially send its legal draft to the CSD until Tuesday.
This is because Tuesday will be the first business day of next week, since Monday is a holiday due to the Three Kings’ Day.
Therefore, even if Barcelona sends the draft now, it will not reach the CSD before Tuesday. That is why the president of Barça, Joan Laporta, has shared his disapproval that the statement from LaLiga and the RFEF arrived on a Saturday.
However, the reception of the draft by the CSD this Tuesday poses a risk for the participation of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in the semifinal of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic Club.
That, of course, as long as the CSD approves Barcelona’s request for a precautionary measure. Unless the CSD acts quickly, the verdict may not come until Wednesday.
Therefore, a more feasible date for the return of Olmo and Víctor to the Barça team could be January 12, when Barcelona could play a hypothetical final against Real Madrid or Mallorca.
If the CSD rejects Barcelona’s appeal, the club will resort to ordinary justice, which will further delay the process.
Recent reports suggest that Olmo and Víctor are already frustrated with the club for not fulfilling the promise of registration by December 31.
Therefore, it will be interesting to see how these two react as Barcelona prepares for its ultimate legal battle to register the two individuals.
