Karun Nair created history on Friday by becoming the first cricketer to score 542 List A runs without being dismissed. He reached this milestone during Vidarbha’s dominant eight-wicket win over Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Nair led the charge with a brilliant knock of 112 runs, helping his team to a comfortable victory.
Before Nair’s incredible feat, the record belonged to former New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin, who had amassed 527 runs. Nair’s consistency now puts him at the top of the list, ahead of notable names such as Joshua van Heerden (512), Fakhar Zaman (455) and Taufeeq Umar (422).
Nair’s record-breaking streak
Nair’s phenomenal run began on December 23, when he scored an unbeaten 112 against Jammu & Kashmir. He followed it up with 44* in a modest chase against Chhattisgarh, a season-high 168* against Chandigarh and 111* against Tamil Nadu.
Friday’s knock against Uttar Pradesh was his fourth century of the season and third in a row. Vidarbha chased UP’s competitive total of 307/8 in just 47.2 overs, thanks to Nair’s heroics.
A massive association with Yash Rathod
Nair found an able partner in Yash Rathod, who also gave a winning performance. Rathod scored an unbeaten 138 off 140 balls, and together, the duo formed a massive 228-run partnership for the second wicket.

Vidarbha finished on 313/2, comfortably securing their fifth straight win.
The victory took Vidarbha to the top of Group D in the Vijay Hazare Trophy standings. They now have 20 points from five matches, ahead of Tamil Nadu (14) and Uttar Pradesh (14).
The team’s impressive form, boosted by consistent performances from players like Nair and Rathod, has made them strong contenders for the knockout stages. As Vidarbha advances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, all eyes will be on Nair to see if he can extend his unbeaten run and continue his excellent form.
