IPL 2025 to start from March 21, confirms BCCI


The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that the 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on March 21 and conclude on May 25. The announcement was made by BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla during an exclusive interview. conversation with Sports Tak. The dates represent a slight revision from the previously proposed start of March 14.

IPL to start right after Champions Trophy 2025

The upcoming IPL season will follow immediately after the ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held from February 19 to March 9. The tight schedule highlights Indian cricket’s packed schedule, with back-to-back marquee events.

The inaugural IPL 2025 will be held at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, and the rest of the schedule is expected to be released soon.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), led by a new captain, will enter the new season as defending champions. KKR claimed the title last year by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a thrilling final.

Fans will be eager to see how the teams develop after the recent IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Several high-profile transfers took place during the auction, with significant changes to the team composition.

One of the most talked about changes is Rishabh Pant’s move to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The former Delhi Capitals (DC) captain has joined LSG, while KL Rahul, captain of LSG last season, has been picked up by DC.

Apart from the scheduling updates, the BCCI has appointed a new IPL commissioner for a period of one year. The identity of the new commissioner has not yet been revealed, but his role will be essential in ensuring the smooth functioning of the league.

The next BCCI meeting, scheduled for January 18-19, will focus on finalizing India’s squad for the Champions Trophy 2025 and reviewing plans for the upcoming IPL season.
