Barcelona are currently going through their worst run in La Liga in 16 years, having managed just one win in their last seven games.
This terrible streak has led them to lose the lead at the top of the table against their rivals Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid.
Flick is not too worried about Atleti’s defeat
Barcelona’s most recent mishap came against Atlético de Madrid, when the team lost 2-1 at Montjuic.
However, according to SPORT, coach Hansi Flick is not too worried. In the post-match analysis, he expressed his pride in how his team played against one of Europe’s elite.
In the performance against Simeone’s Atlético, Barcelona dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities, which left both the coach and the fans optimistic despite the result.
This attitude has also been shared by Barcelona’s senior management, who believe that the team can compete for titles if it continues to play like this against the best teams.
What Flick expects from Barcelona
However, Flick’s concerns lie elsewhere. Defeats against teams like Las Palmas and Leganés have clearly worried him, not because of the quality of the opponent, but because of what it reveals about his team’s mentality.
According to Flick, these losses highlight a critical problem: a lack of consistent motivation and intensity against less prestigious teams.
As such, he believes that while the team has proven it can compete with the best, its approach needs recalibration to maintain that level of performance in every game, not just high-profile ones.
Flick stressed the need for his players to show the same hunger and determination in every match, regardless of the opponent.
