Details of Barcelona’s historic agreement with Nike before the General Assembly to ratify the agreement

Barcelona reached an agreement with Nike on a new contract after months of breaking up earlier this year and the new terms of the deal ensured the Catalans got better financial terms.

However, the next step after formally closing the agreement is its ratification by the club’s members and, therefore, the board of directors called an Extraordinary General Assembly for it.

As revealed earlier this month, the special meeting is scheduled for tomorrow and will take place at 11 a.m. The only item on the agenda is the approval of the newly agreed upon agreement.

Confidentiality will be maintained.

The Barcelona Statutes stipulate that any external sponsorship that the club attracts must be discussed and ratified by the members of the assembly.

However, SPORT anticipates that Barcelona will not be able to reveal the details of the agreement tomorrow for confidentiality reasons.

The only thing that is known is that the contract includes three aspects: a renewal bonus, a fixed sponsorship each year and a variable sun that depends on the titles won.

Contract details

In addition, the contract will improve year on year by 10% to 15% to adapt to inflation. In particular, men’s and women’s teams will receive the same incentives for titles.

In total, Barcelona can receive up to €1.7 billion until 2038, with the signing bonus said to be worth around €150 million, which will be prorated over the 14 years.

It is also worth noting that the contract until 2028 will improve annually by around 45 million euros, while it will improve by 60 million euros from 2028 to 2038.

The information so far is known through leaks, but nothing beyond this will come to light tomorrow during discussions and ratification must happen anyway.

After all, Barcelona need the deal to be approved for La Liga to officially take it into account and help them get closer to the 1:1 rule as soon as possible.
