With less than a week left until the end of 2024, there is a lot of anxiety in the Barcelona camp surrounding Dani Olmo’s registration.
The club has until December 31 to formally register Olmo, otherwise the Spaniard could become a free agent on January 1.
Barcelona are working on several economic levers that could help them register Olmo. But the player himself is very calm about his future and thinks about the challenges that Barça has ahead of him.
Olmo talks about everything in Barcelona
In a recent interview, Olmo spoke about his time in Barcelona so far and the road ahead.
“This year has been very special, but this is just the beginning. I feel that there is still a lot to do,” he said (h/t Sports World).
“I want to win titles with Barça and with the national team.”
Olmo signed for Barcelona this summer, in a deal worth €55 million. When remembering his decision to sign for Barça, the playmaker stated that he did not even hesitate in opting to sign for Barça.
“There were other options, but when Barça presented this initiative I didn’t hesitate. Coming home to my family and friends was a dream come true and now I can make it a reality.” said.
Olmo revealed that the idea of playing at the Camp Nou was another of the factors that convinced him to sign for Barcelona.
“Being able to play too, like playing at the Spotify Camp Nou with players like
Frenkie, Robert or Ronald. “We have a great team and we hope to bring a lot of joy to our fans.” he added.
Barcelona are expected to return to the Spotify Camp Nou in early 2025. The club was initially proposed to return around March 2025, but there have been significant delays since then.
Olmo, for his part, also referred to the relationship he has with Fermín López and Gavi, his juniors in The Masia.
“I knew Fermín and Gavi, they were very young and being able to make it to the first team is very special for everyone.” said.
Finally, Olmo spoke about new Barcelona coach Hansi Flick and his role in shaping the season so far.
“He knows me perfectly from the Bundesliga because we play against each other there. Wherever I play and wherever I am, I will always try to do my best.” he concluded.
