Borussia Dortmund showed interest in Barcelona defender valued at €18m: report

Eric García has been a highly sought after man in the current transfer window, with the Barcelona defender being courted by several clubs.

The 24-year-old’s future had been the subject of speculation in recent weeks, with Girona and Como vying for his signature and submitting offers.

However, in recent days it has been confirmed that the Spanish international will remain at Barcelona, at least until the end of the season, with an exit already completely ruled out.

Borussia Dortmund also wanted Eric García

Now, Sports World reports that in addition to Girona and Como, Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have also expressed interest in signing Eric Garcia in the current winter transfer window.

The blue and white team, which is going through a difficult phase, was looking to reinforce its squad this January and became interested in the Barcelona defender. However, negotiations with the German club never materialized.

From the beginning, García was clear about his options. Regardless of the financial conditions for the 24-year-old, it was Girona or Barcelona.

As such, despite their tentative interest, Borussia Dortmund never stood a chance of signing the former Manchester City talent.

Seeing that he had no playing time and that he was not in Flick’s plans, Girona seemed to be his favorite destination if he left Barcelona. As also pursued it, but it was never considered a realistic option.

But the economic differences between Barcelona and Girona were always evident. Furthermore, a conversation with Deco and Flick finally helped him make a decision and continue with the blaugrana.
