The unusual circumstances surrounding Dani Olmo and his registration problems at FC Barcelona have sparked the interest of several European clubs in the player’s future.
The 26-year-old midfielder’s registration expired on December 31 and the club has not been able to re-register him; Olmo has a special clause in his contract that allows him to leave as a free agent.
The Spanish international has been frustrated by the situation but has maintained his position of wanting to continue at Barça.
Despite this, several clubs across Europe are closely monitoring their situation if the winner of Euro 2024 decides to leave, one of them being Bayern Munich.
Bayern no longer want Olmo
Bayern were interested in signing Olmo from RB Leipzig before his move to Barcelona and continue to admire the player.
However, according to BILD (h/t SPORT), Bayern Munich have ruled out the possibility of signing the Spaniard despite exploring the situation, as the Bundesliga giants realize a long-term takeover is unlikely. .
Bayern does not plan to make any major moves in the January transfer market. While Olmo presented a unique opportunity, particularly given his familiarity with the Bundesliga, the club sees no value in signing him on a short-term basis.
The Bavarians believe that Olmo would have fit perfectly into the club due to his quality and familiarity with the league, but the player’s commitment to Barcelona complicates the outlook.
Olmo has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave if registration problems persist, but he does not plan to exercise it. His clear objective is to succeed in the Catalan team.
Even in the worst case scenario, if the playmaker were to leave Barça in January, his intention is to return to the club in June, when registration problems would probably no longer be an issue.
Under these circumstances, Bayern decided not to hire the player for only six months, despite his obvious talent.
Olmo has other options, and AC Milan are open to signing him on a short-term contract.
For now, however, neither Olmo nor his representatives are exploring alternatives. Both trust that Barça will solve the problem and allow him to play the remainder of the season.
