According to a recent report from SPORT, it has come to light that the Barcelona board remains firm in its position regarding the January transfer market.
It is said that despite the team’s recent dip in form in La Liga, the club management has decided that there will be no new signings during the winter market.
This decision is due to both financial constraints and their belief that the current situation is much more stable compared to last season.
What is happening in Barcelona?
The poor results of recent weeks have generated concern among fans, but the board and coach Hansi Flick remain confident.
They believe that the team’s overall performance and approach has greatly improved, even if the results have not fully reflected that progress.
For now, the club is sticking to its carefully laid out plan, which doesn’t involve making impulsive mid-season changes unless unforeseen circumstances, such as a major injury, force them to.
Flick himself does not believe that the January market is the right time to reinforce the squad. Furthermore, he has not requested reinforcements, as he considers it a challenge to find a player during this window who can really elevate the team.
Instead, the club’s focus is elsewhere.
What is in focus?
Sports director Deco prioritizes the registrations of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. Both players are expected to be officially registered next week. Beyond that, no other activity is planned.
Barcelona also does not plan to part with any player unless an extraordinary offer arrives for someone who is not currently a key part of the squad. So far no offers of this type have materialized.
Looking ahead, the club is prepared to make major moves in the summer transfer window if necessary.
For now, however, they are banking on the quality and depth of their current squad to turn their fortunes around in the current campaign.
