Sporting Lisbon have reportedly set a valuation of between €70 million and €75 million for the potential transfer of Viktor Gyokeres during the upcoming summer window.
According to SPORT, the Portuguese club is prepared for the departure of the Swedish striker once the season ends.
Indeed, a verbal agreement between Gyokeres and Sporting is said to appear to confirm this price range, with the club aiming for a structured and smooth transfer process.
Interest in Gyokeres
Several European giants, including Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Barcelona, have shown interest in acquiring Gyokeres.
His exceptional performances this season have made him one of the most sought-after forwards in European football.
While Manchester United were especially interested in landing him in the winter transfer market, Gyokeres decided to stay at Sporting, fulfilling the verbal agreement he had with the club, as he has reservations about the Manchester United project.
Even with the appointment of Ruben Amorim as coach and his strong connection, the forward seems cautious about joining the Premier League team, prioritizing the stability of his long-term career.
As a result, he might consider opportunities in other leagues before making a final decision.
Barcelona has been attentive
Barcelona’s interest in Gyokeres became evident in November when Deco, the club’s sporting director, met with Sporting representatives to discuss possible transfers.
Deco’s strong links with Sporting have previously facilitated discussions, including Barcelona’s efforts to secure Vitor Roque.
Furthermore, Barcelona owns 50% of Francisco Trincao’s participation rights, which could play a key role in reducing Gyokeres’ financial demands if he chooses to move to Spain.
At Barcelona the prospect of signing a new striker has gained importance. While Robert Lewandowski has been reliable this season, concerns have been raised over his age and future consistency as he approaches 37 years of age.
Despite an automatic contract renewal clause triggered by his match appearances, Barcelona can still look for new options, making Gyokeres a potential candidate to lead their attack in the coming seasons.
