Barcelona will definitely register Olmo and Víctor in January; We have a plan B of 120 million euros if judicial proceedings fail.

As we inch closer to the January transfer window, the issue of the signings of Barcelona stars Pau Víctor and Dani Olmo dominates the headlines.

The duo’s registration in La Liga is valid only until December 31 and they must re-register for the second half of the season, while Barça works on several options to achieve this.

As recently confirmed, Barcelona has opted for judicial means to register Olmo and Víctor requesting a precautionary measure before the courts, as it already did with Gavi back in 2023.

Barcelona does not worry

Now, SPORT reports that there is no concern within Barcelona about the signings of Olmo and Víctor.

The club is not afraid of being ineligible as of January 1. After the hearing held this Monday at the Commercial Court number 10 of Barcelona, the decision is now in the hands of the judge, who will determine whether to grant the provisional sentence.

The League, which sent a team of more than four lawyers to the Catalan capital for the hearing with the judge, maintains that the temporary sentence should not be granted to Barça.

On the other hand, the blaugrana They claim that they have been in weekly contact with La Liga since the start of the season and that the league had initially communicated that signing the contract with Nike would be sufficient to comply with the 1:1 rule.

However, Barça was surprised when they sent them the general lines of the aforementioned contract and La Liga informed them that they still lacked 60 million euros to equal the salary cap.

The Catalan Club believes that this is the result of pressure from other clubs, including Atlético de Madrid, Athletic Club and Sevilla. This led Barcelona to the conclusion that legal action would be taken, as happened two years ago with the Gavi case.

Barcelona’s argument

Barcelona has argued that labor legislation takes priority over any other regulations, meaning that a player with a contract cannot be prevented from practicing his profession.

The question of Marc-André ter Stegen’s absence has also been raised. Barça affirms that there is a part of the German’s salary not used and with that excess the club could sign both Olmo and Víctor.

However, La Liga claims that the Catalans already used salary cap space when they signed Wojciech Szczesny. They argue that it is Barça’s responsibility not to use all the salary space and that their rules take precedence over any other.

Plan B underway

Joan Laporta and company. They have expressed neither optimism nor pessimism regarding the judge’s ruling, which is expected to be announced on December 27.

In fact, during the ordinary meeting of the board of directors held on Monday, Plan B was discussed: the sale of Spotify VIP seat packages at the Camp Nou.

Initially, the plan was to sell this package for around 200 million euros, but it has been decided that, if the judge does not grant the temporary ruling for the registrations of Olmo and Pau Víctor, a smaller package can be sold to a Qatari company for 120 million euros will be activated.

With this amount, not only would the 1:1 rule be fulfilled and Olmo and Víctor would be registered, but it would also allow the renewals of Pedri and Gavi to be carried out, and even a possible signing, although at the moment it is ruled out.

As for the players, Barcelona has maintained constant contact with them and their representatives for some time. They are calm and the club has assured them that their registrations from January 1 are not at risk.
