Barcelona remain optimistic about resolving Dani Olmo situation before January 3: report

Barcelona faces a race against time to resolve the registration problems of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, and the club is optimistic that a solution can be found before Friday, January 3.

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana believe that they will be able to solve the matter once they receive the funds from the sale of the VIP seats at the future Spotify Camp Nou.

Both Olmo and Víctor had their La Liga registrations valid only until December 31, 2024. However, the club is confident that the necessary changes can be made in time to reinstate the players.

Barcelona trusts in the receipt of all proceeds from the sale of VIP seats, which has been delayed due to additional verification requests from La Liga. These requests mainly refer to contracts and payment guarantees related to places.

What is the situation like?

So far, the club has not been able to confirm that the income has been transferred entirely by investors based in Qatar and Dubai.

This has caused a delay in the certification of the financial documentation necessary for player registration. The club issued a statement yesterday indicating its belief that the situation could still be resolved before January 3.

Barcelona’s confidence depends on article 130.2 of the General Regulations of the RFEF, although it presents important challenges.

What does it say?

According to the rule, a player can only be registered in a club team for a single season, with exceptions due to “force majeure” or specific regulatory provisions.

Unless the lack of income from the sale of VIP seats is interpreted as a case of force majeure, Barcelona could have difficulty obtaining the registration of Olmo and Víctor.

As of now, both players remain officially unregistered and are not eligible to represent the club. Barcelona must overcome these legal and regulatory challenges quickly to ensure the duo can continue playing this season.

While the situation is uncertain, the club remains hopeful of resolving the matter with La Liga and the RFEF in the coming days.
