Barcelona reaches an agreement with the 22-year-old defender for a new contract with a clause of 100 million euros

Gerard Martín’s situation at Barcelona is increasingly clear, as highlighted by the latest reports from Mundo Deportivo.

The outlet mentions that the 22-year-old left back, whose contract will expire in 2025, does not face the same uncertainty as some of his teammates.

Barcelona currently have four players whose contracts end in 2025, and while the futures of Robert Lewandowski, Iñigo Martínez and Martín are secured, the future of goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny remains unclear.

The club’s sports management is processing the four cases and, although no official announcements have been made, Barcelona has everything under control.

Two of the players have clauses that automatically extend their contracts based on the number of games played, while negotiations for the others continue.

In Martin’s case, the situation is simpler. Martin has already established himself as a key player in the first team and has earned the trust of coach Hansi Flick.

Barcelona and the player have reached an agreement that has not yet been made public. Martin will reportedly extend his contract until June 30, 2028.

In addition, the club will include a termination clause of 100 million euros, which will guarantee the protection of the young talent in the long term.

Barcelona’s decision to sign Martín for the coming years shows that the club is committed to his development. Despite some moments in which the left-back has not been at his best level, he remains a key piece in Hansi Flick’s future plans.

This contract extension is a sign of the club’s confidence in his potential and their desire to secure him for the long term.

It is clear that, despite being Alejandro Balde’s understudy, Martín’s role at Barcelona is expected to grow, and the club are taking steps to ensure they have him tied down for the foreseeable future.
