Vitor Roque’s loan to Real Betis is proving beneficial for the Brazilian striker. The Barcelona star has gained the playing time he needed to adapt to European football and his performances are beginning to attract attention in the transfer market.
As reported in recent days, the 19-year-old striker has attracted interest from Palmeiras in his native Brazil, while Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have also inquired about him.
Barcelona’s plans with Vitor Roque
Although he is currently at Real Betis, Vítor Roque is still a Barcelona player and the club’s plan for his future is clear.
In fact, according to SPORT, Roque is unlikely to return to the Catalan club, so the intention is to sell him to a third club, ensuring that both Barcelona and Betis benefit.
The solution to this situation could be found this summer, and not in January.
Barcelona signed Vitor Roque in December 2024 for 30 million euros plus an additional 30 million in variables, which will hardly be met as he has not played in the blaugrana.
After about six months of struggles with Xavi Hernández, the sports management and new coach Hansi Flick decided to loan him out to gain experience and he is currently not considered a player for the future.
Although a two-year loan deal was agreed with Betis in the summer, the Catalans were very open to selling him permanently to Sporting CP.
Although Barça could bring him back next summer or the following year, paying compensation, both the club and the player’s team are clear that a return will not occur.
Although Barcelona is looking for a second striker for the next project, the plan is to permanently separate from Roque, recovering the investment and, if possible, generating profits.
As already mentioned, in recent days Tottenham and Palmeiras have shown interest, although his future could be in Italy, where two clubs are following him closely.
Real Betis has an option to purchase Roque for 25 million euros for 80% of his rights, with additional variables, but it is unlikely that they will be able to afford this transfer.
Therefore, they would also look for a third club to facilitate a deal, as was done with Chadi Riad last summer. If Roque continues his progress, it is highly likely that such a deal will be agreed this summer.
In Barcelona it is understood that it has not been a bad investment. For now, the best result is for Roque to continue playing regularly and return to the Brazilian team.
There is confidence that the transfer fee can be recovered provided there are no major physical setbacks.
