Barcelona not considering loan of club captain amid interest from Serie A and Premier League

Ronald Araujo has become the hottest prospect in the transfer market at the moment, with Juventus and Arsenal hot on Barcelona’s heels.

Both European giants are interested in landing the services of the Barcelona captain this January, as they look to strengthen their ranks in the defensive unit.

After a long layoff due to injury, Araujo has found it difficult to re-establish himself as a first-team starter under Hansi Flick.

This is largely due to Íñigo Martínez and Pau Cubarsi becoming first-team regulars, while the team’s perspective on Araujo has changed since his mistakes against PSG.

With this in mind, Araujo has been linked with a departure from Barcelona in January, with Arsenal and Juventus emerging as potential suitors.

Barcelona is not willing to give up Araujo

A recent report from Catalunya Radio has offered more clarity on Araujo’s future, especially from Barcelona’s perspective.

The report suggests that the Catalans are not very interested in loaning the Uruguayan international in the winter transfer market.

Barça’s main position is that, to begin with, they will not sell Araujo. But if circumstances force a sale, president Joan Laporta will consider nothing more than a permanent deal.

This could be a hard blow for Juventus, who have approached with a loan proposal for the defender.

Although Juventus is in dire need of defensive reinforcements, the club is not in a position to spend a lot of money immediately on someone like Araujo.

It could be a different case for Arsenal, who may have money to spend in January. However, the links with the Emirates have not been as concrete as those with Juventus.

Therefore, it will be interesting to see if either of these two clubs try to sign Araujo permanently this month and lure the Barcelona captain away from Catalonia.
