Barcelona meets with the key midfielder’s lawyer to discuss the registration and a resolution is expected on December 27

Barcelona are racing against time in their bid to register summer star signing Dani Olmo in La Liga before the end of the year.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder was only registered for the first half of the season in the summer, taking advantage of the salary space created by Andreas Christensen’s long absence due to injury.

As such, Olmo, along with his summer partner Pau Victor, must re-register for the second half of the season by December 31.

However, as already reported, there is still 60 million euros missing to return to the 1:1 Fair Play rule, which would allow the registration of the Spanish international.

Barcelona has ruled out the possibility of using a financial guarantee, as it did in the past to cover this gap, and is exploring other avenues.

Meeting with Olmo’s father and lawyer

As Barcelona president Joan Laporta revealed this week, the Catalans will face La Liga at Commercial Court number 10 in Barcelona on Monday, December 23.

The club has filed a precautionary measure to register Olmo, even temporarily, similar to what was done with Gavi in the past.

And, according to Jijantes FCMiquel Olmo, father of the Barça star, and Ramón Valencia, a lawyer specialized in sports law, met yesterday with the club’s board of directors at the sports facilities to discuss the registration process.

Miquel Olmo is also the director of the agency that represents the Barcelona attacking midfielder. Meanwhile, Ramón Valencia has been legally advising the player for years.

Although Barcelona has until the last day of the year to register Olmo, the case is expected to be resolved on Friday, December 27, if an agreement is not reached at the hearing set by the judge.

However, club sources have suggested that alternative options are being explored if the matter is not resolved in court.

In addition to the contract with Nike and the sale of shares in Barça Vision, the club is considering the possibility of using the salary space of the absent Marc-André ter Stegen to register Olmo.
