According to journalist Gerard Romero, Barcelona has reached an agreement with Juventus on the transfer of Ronald Araujo.
The journalist comments that, contrary to what is circulating, it seems that no agreement has been closed between the two clubs for the Uruguayan defender.
Barcelona have confirmed that while there have been communications with Juventus and inquiries from other clubs about Araujo, no concrete decision has been made so far.
Juventus’ interest is real
Earlier today, rumors emerged suggesting that Araujo was preparing to travel to Turin next week to complete medical tests and sign a contract with Juventus.
These reports fueled weeks of speculation about his future, and the Italian team would be interested in acquiring his services. Juventus were said to be waiting for a response from Barcelona, who were rumored to have approved the transfer.
The backdrop to this situation is said to be a recent ruling by Spain’s Higher Sports Council (CSD), which temporarily blocked a La Liga decision that could have impacted Barcelona’s transfer strategies.
This ruling apparently gave Barcelona some breathing room regarding player departures.
Summer transfer still possible
However, as things stand, a winter transfer for Araujo seems unlikely. The situation remains unstable and many things could change between now and the summer.
Interestingly, if Araujo finds himself struggling for consistent playing time, a move to Juventus could become a serious possibility. From Barcelona’s perspective, such a transfer could bring significant financial benefits.
For now, it seems that the defender’s immediate objective will continue to be to regain his place in the starting eleven.
Whether Juventus or another club becomes his destination in the future depends largely on his performances and Barcelona’s decisions in the coming months.
