Barcelona director Deco makes important decision ahead of January transfer market

With just over a week until the January transfer window opens, Barcelona faces some key challenges.

The club’s biggest task will be to sign new signings Dani Olmo and Pau Torres, for which they will have to find new sources of income.

For a long time, it seems that Barcelona will depend on the sale of players to make room for Olmo and Torres. However, a recent report from SPORT suggests otherwise.

Barcelona unlikely to sell players in January

According to the report, it appears that Barcelona sporting director Deco has made the important decision not to allow any player sales in January.

The club believes that selling stars in the winter transfer window could present another challenge in replacing them, which will be impossible in the current economic scenario.

Barcelona will therefore not sell any new players in January, including those who are not a prominent part of Hansi Flick’s first-team plans.

What happens with Fati and García?

This decision could significantly affect two players, in particular: Eric García and Ansu Fati.

Both players have been closely linked with a move away from Catalonia in recent weeks, with Garcia already being courted by his former loan club Girona.

Meanwhile, Fati has fallen out of favor with Hansi Flick and is no longer part of the German first team’s plans.

But with Barcelona opting not to sell any players in January, it won’t be surprising to see both players remain at Montjuic until the end of the season.

Of course, his extended stay means Barcelona must now find other sources of income in their bid to register Olmo.

To do this, the club will try to use the sale of VIP seats at Spotify Camp Nou, which is expected to generate a minimum income of 200 million euros.
